Donor Privacy Policy

United Way of Acadiana values the trust its donors place in the organization and adheres to the highest standards in gathering, using and safeguarding customer information. This includes all of the donor’s personal and gift information. Because of this trust UWA will not rent, trade, sell or share any information about its donors.

The information you or your employer provide to us is used to help us in our fund-raising to process and receipt your donation and to respond to any of your requests. We also use your information to send acknowledgement of your gift information and to provide information about our work which we think you may find of interest. UWA employees who may access your information in order to perform pledge processing and administrative functions are prohibited from disclosing your information.

We do not provide donor information to third parties except under the following conditions:

Designations – If a portion of your donation is directed to another United way or another charitable organization, we provide your name, your contact information, the amount of your donation and your workplace to the organization receiving your donation. If you do not want this to occur, please indicate on your pledge form that you wish to remain anonymous.

Public recognition – There are times when we publicly recognize and thank donors, volunteers and other stakeholders for their generosity. If you prefer to remain anonymous, pleas indicate this when completing your pledge form.

As Required by Law – UWA will release information when we are required to comply with the law.

To help protect donors’ privacy, UWA only uses PCI Compliant third parties to process credit or debit card transactions. All contributions are final. If a donor or customer identifies an error in a transaction amount, wants to report unauthorized usage of their credit or debit card, or has other related concerns, please contact Lori Petrie, Vice President of Finance/Administration at 337-706-1229.

To prevent unauthorized access, maintain data accuracy, and ensure the correct use of information, we have put in place procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect. Firewalls prevent outside parties from accessing our database and internal United Way access to the database is restricted to authorized individuals.
