Economic forces such as job disruption, inflation, Economic forces such as job disruption, inflation, wage increases, pandemic assistance, and migration worked with and against each other throughout the pandemic. The result: From 2019 through 2021, Louisiana saw an increase in the total number of households in poverty and ALICE households – earning above the Federal Poverty Level but not nearly enough to afford basics – from 879,488 to 902,468.

United Way of Acadiana is pleased to announce the United Way of Acadiana is pleased to announce the winners of the 2023-2024 PACT (Plan of Action for Community Transformation) Grant cycle. United Way of Acadiana received many outstanding applications from organizations working towards improving our community. After careful consideration and review, 10 organizations have been selected to receive funding for their impactful programs.

We had a great time at our second Nonprofit Meetup We had a great time at our second Nonprofit Meetup of 2023! Attendees had the pleasure of hearing and participating in an informative presentation by Dr. Lise Anne Slatten. Dr. Slatten is the Associate Dean for Administration & Quality in the B.I Moody III College of Business Administration and an Associate Professor of Management at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. With a distinguished background in the nonprofit sector spanning two decades, including ten years as the executive director of a grant-making nonprofit organization in Lafayette, Dr. Slatten brings extensive experience to the table. She is also highly regarded as a nonprofit governance consultant with over fifteen years of expertise.

During the presentation, Dr. Slatten delved into essential topics such as the definition of nonprofit organizations, the significance of nonprofit governance, an overview of different board types and their functions, as well as the core responsibilities of board members.

Thank you to our volunteers that showed up today t Thank you to our volunteers that showed up today to help stuff bags for the Resources for Developing Minds initiative launching June 2023! We stuffed 600 bags that will be used as part of the program and will be given to every new baby born at our partner hospitals. The bag contains age-appropriate books, toys, and other educational materials that are designed to promote positive parent-child interactions, encourage early literacy and language development, and provide families with resources to support their child’s growth and development.
